Stretching your Stanton Giclee is simple and inexpensive. Framer's are competitive in prices, so choose one in your area. They can put black tape on the sides, and if you're not ready to frame it, it is ready to hang on the wall. To choose the frame, let the framer show you different ideas. I like a contemporary style for my Island Seascapes and traditional for the Desert Paintings. Ask about any moulding they may have in stock at a discount!

Many people will appreciate the quality of an original art piece and the impression that it gives is one of individuality of the owner. Depending on the size and type of art, it may also lend an air of success to the lucky buyer. This is particularly the case for original oil paintings or bronze sculptures. The impression of wealth is one that may or may not be founded in reality, but it is often the impression that counts. A person might prefer to have a number of smaller pieces of a particular artist or sculptor, or buy the largest that they can afford. It really makes no difference. They are showing that they can afford exactly what they want – original art.
There are many benefits to owning original art; however the most important one by far is simply for the love of it. Original works of art should be appreciated and give many years of joy to the new owner.

GICLEE FAQS

What is a Giclee Print?
In giclee printing, there is no visible dot screen pattern. The image has all the tonalities and hues of the original painting. Giclee (pronounced Gee’clay) is a French term meaning to spray or squirt, which is how an inkjet printer works. However, it is not the same as a standard desktop inkjet printer, and is much larger. Giclee prints are a little over a metre wide and are often affectionately referred to as a “knitting machine” as they look very similar. The Giclee printing process delivers a fine stream of pigmented acid free ink on archival canvas, resulting in vivid, pure color and exceptional detail that is suitable for museum or gallery display. The six color printer coupled with tested substrates produces fine art prints of unmatched quality with a wide color gamut, high resolution, and long lightfast properties.

What is the Life Expectancy of a Stanton Giclee Print?
Pigment based giclee inks when tested with particular substrates can last over 125 years without noticeable fading. These tests came from independent labs such as the Wilhelm Institute.

What should I know about Handling Stanton Giclee Prints?
You should treat all artwork with the utmost care. Your giclee prints should be protected from water. Giclee prints on canvas can be framed and hung just like an original painting, also on canvas. Stanton's Giclee Prints are treated with an acrylic varnish which will aid in their protection and light-fastness, but careful protection against extreme elements is still required. Paper giclee prints should be framed and mounted behind glass. As a result of being a new technology in fine art reproduction, giclees have undergone extensive third party testing to determine lightfast properties. Continuos direct sunlight should be avoided.

Do Giclee printers use ordinary printers inks?
No. They use special light-fast inks, which will remain true for up to 125 years.

Do Giclee printers use ordinary scans?
The way the image is scanned is different also.

Are Stanton Giclee Prints numbered and signed limited editions?
All of Margaret Stanton's Hand Embellished Giclee Prints on Canvas are in a limited edition of 50. Smaller size Giclee Prints on Paper are in limited editions of 250. Custom Size Hand Embellished Giclee Prints on Canvas are part of the limited editions of 50.

What kind of printing paper is used for Stanton's Giclee Prints?
A Stanton Giclee uses the highest quality archival paper and UltraChrome Inks. These prints are rated to be fade resistant for generations. The smallest size Stanton Giclees are printed on 200 lbs. archival, museum quality watercolor paper, which have a velvety texture, and are not embellished.

Is Canvas more durable than paper?
Canvas prints are extremely durable, with the added advantage that these prints are framed without glass, just like the original paintings - Perfect for thick, rich hand-embellishments!

Do I have to pay a lot for shipping?
No, not at all! Stanton's Hand Embellished Giclee Prints on Canvas are rolled and shipped in a tube costing as little as $20.00. Shipping Prices and other Details can be found on the Blow Up Pages for each painting.

How much will stretching and framing cost?
Stretching a Hand Embellished Giclee, ready to be hung on the wall or to be framed, can be done by your own local framer for a minimal price from $20 for the 16" x 20"s to $50 for larger canvases. Framing will vary depending on what you choose. If you are giving a Stanton Hand Embellished Giclee as a gift, you may want to consult them on the style of mouldings to be used for the frame.

Do Giclee Prints increase in value like original paintings do?
Yes, especially Giclees which have been hand embellished by the artist! Signed and numbered limited editions, have value, just like the artist's original paintings do, and are recognized as Fine Art, with long-lasting, museum-grade quality. Margaret Stanton's Giclee Prints on Canvas are Hand Embellished, Signed and Numbered. Stanton's art, her public murals and her popularity speak for themselves.

Can I buy a Stanton Hand Embellished Giclee in any size?
You can purchase a Stanton Hand Embellished Giclee in any size. There is a limit as to how large a piece can go, and recommendations are available on the Blow Up Page for each painting.
